I had a brilliant opportunity to work at The Other Art Fair at the Truman Brewery making coffee. Although I didn’t have much time to look around, this was the view from the bar I was working on.

On the last day when everything was closing down, my boss gave me a chance to wander around and have a look at some of the work. I got talking to this artist called Sousan Luqman who had some very pretty paintings in her cubical. She was saying that these pieces she was selling at the fair was on the side of doing installation work as well, which I found much more interesting than her paintings.

A piece of hers which I was particularly interested by was one called Pitch; she had taken speeches from three different political views, dismembered the words and put them on wires. The meaning behind this piece was ‘the words are vunerable with weak foundations but their effect determines the fate of many’

Inspired by this piece I’m going to look at how words can influence, but are at the same time just words and how these sounds are fundamentally just sound
